Vacancy - Gemologist Trainee

Job Description:
AGL Laboratory invites applications for Gemologist Trainee positions. The laboratory seeks individuals to perform identification of various gemstones.
Successful candidates will work with gemologists as a team on the analysis and identification of gemstones.
They will be expected to operate varying advanced spectroscopy equipment and to interpret the analytical results independently.
Experience with Raman and/or UV-VIS equipment would be an advantage, but full training will be provided.
Responsibility:
1. Uses standard, high tech, and specialty gem testing equipment to examine and identify gem materials, particularly diamonds, in order to determine if they are natural or synthetic and if they have been treated or enhanced in any form.
2. Responsible for gemstone inspection, authentication, record, conduct instrument maintenance and calibration and other daily activities in the laboratory.
3. Verify the authenticity and other attributes of the gemstone inspected, preparation of reports, certificates and other related documentations, assure the quality and accuracy of the results.
4. Develop relevant documentation and inspection protocols.
5. Assist to verify and audit testing data and information, signing reports/certificates.

Qualification:
1. Graduate Gemologist diploma preferred (Eg. GIA, FGA, AIGS, IGI and/or GIT).
2. Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or University or higher education in Geology is preferred.
3. Must be Malaysian citizen or PR holder.
4. Full times positions are available.
5. While no experience is necessary, experienced gemologists are also welcome to apply.
